Mental health is just as important as physical health or your finances. Remembering things you’re thankful for can be a terrific way to improve your mental wellness.
Get a simple notebook or journal sit down ten or 15 minutes a day to reflect on what you’re thankful for. You’ll be surprised at what it does for you.
Discover a New Ethnic Food Group
Are you in a rut with your current meal plan? Make it a goal to discover a new dish or food group you enjoy.
There are numerous recipe websites available online that you can use to discover new recipes. You can even use the library to check out cookbooks.
Read More Books
Reading is another fun way to improve your mental wellness. Make it a goal to read a new book every month or even every week or two.
Utilize your library. Ask your friends what authors they like. Set aside time each evening to curl up and read.
Start a New Hobby
Not every hobby has to cost a lot of money to start. Think through hobbies you’ve always wanted to do and identify one to begin.
There are many free hobbies you can start. They range from baking to biking to birdwatching. Try a few and select the one you enjoy most.

Gardening is a relatively cheap hobby to start. The weather may not currently allow you to begin a garden yet, but you can start planning.
Identify where you will plant it, what to grow, and when to begin. Include your children to help them learn the value of hard work and to learn where food really comes from.
Start Yoga With a Partner
Yoga has numerous health benefits, and can be a helpful way to reduce stress levels. If you’ve never done yoga, start doing so with your partner.
It’s a fun experience and can draw you closer together.
Chill Out
Life gets busy and stress levels rise. That can lead to deteriorating health. Make it a plan to block off time each week to do something just for yourself.
Decreased stress is just one benefit. You are your most important resource, so it literally pays to give yourself the gift of time.
Volunteer
Why not give back this year? Find a charity that serves a need you believe in and give them some of your time once a week or month.
Most groups need money, but they need time even more. You get to benefit as well as studies reveal that volunteering lowers your stress levels.
Start Walking More
You don’t need to go to the gym daily for 90 minutes to get active. Being active can be as simple as going for a walk around your neighborhood every day.
You get fresh air and exercise. If you do it with your partner, it can be a fantastic way to catch up on your day and get time together.
Get an Accountability Partner
Why try to achieve your goals on your own? Studies show that when you partner with someone to reach goals, you have a higher chance of success.
Identify a friend or co-worker you can meet with and share one another’s burdens. You can help each other in numerous ways.
