Making dinner can be a struggle for busy households, especially if you’re trying to keep your meals healthy by using fresh ingredients.
Fortunately, Gobble is a unique subscription-based service that delivers easy to prepare meal kits right to your door each week. However, it’s more expensive than other options.
This Gobble review can help you decide if the meal delivery service is worth the price.

What is Gobble?
Gobble is a meal kit that’s all about convenience and health.
Using fresh ingredients, they create recipes and build meal kits that feature several pre-prepped ingredients to cut down on prep time.
Additionally, they offer a wide variety of chef-designed recipes that appeal to kids and adults, feature unique ingredients, and contain several different flavors from around the world.
How Does the Service Work?
It is simple to sign up for Gobble. First, navigate to the “Our Plans” page and select “Get Started.” You’ll need to create an account to view their meal plan options.
You can choose between three different meal plans:
- Classic: A variety of Gobble recipes
- Lean and Clean: Grain-free, lower carb, and less than 600 calories per serving
- Vegetarian: Plant-based meals that may contain dairy and eggs
No matter which plan you choose, you’ll be able to view and make selections from the full menu each week.
You can also choose between three or four recipes per week for two or four people.
After checking out, you’ll be taken to the meal selection screen to choose your meals for your first shipment.
Gobble offers roughly 16 recipes per week in addition to extra breakfasts, salads, soups, and desserts that you can add to your order.
This is a subscription service, so you’ll receive boxes each week unless you skip weeks or cancel the service. You can easily cancel on the website.
If you keep the service, make a note of your meal selection deadline each week. If you miss the deadline, you’ll receive meal choices selected by Gobble.
In the event your box arrives late or some of your ingredients aren’t in good condition when they arrive, you can contact customer service to discuss your options.
How Much Does A Meal From Gobble Cost?
Gobble meals cost a flat $12.99 per serving regardless of how many servings or recipes you receive each week. Shipping is an additional $6.99.
Some meals may cost more than the standard $12.99 per serving, but these are clearly marked on the menu. Additionally, other add-ons cost extra.
However, new users, can get their first six meals (by choosing the two-serving, three-recipe plan) for just $36.
Servings Per Week | Total Cost with Shipping |
---|---|
6 servings | $84.93 |
8 servings | $110.91 |
12 servings | $162.87 |
16 servings | $214.83 |
My Experience Using the Service
I was impressed with our Gobble experience. The box arrived neatly packaged. Each recipe (including all of the non-meat ingredients and the recipe card) was bagged separately.
All of the meats were kept separate from the other ingredients. I also noted that most of the packaging materials were reusable or recyclable, so the box seems pretty eco-friendly.
In our box, we received:
- Sauteed Sake & Miso Chicken with Shiitakes & Bok Choy
- Lamb Gyros with Tzatziki & Roasted Greek Potatoes for Four
- Cajun Shrimp & Andouille Jambalaya for Four
First up were the lamb gyros, which were easy to make thanks to premade seasonings and sauces, including the tzatziki. Also, the potatoes were pre-cooked, which saved a lot of time.
Next, we made the miso chicken stir fry. It was delicious. I even had some extra mushrooms and broccolini that needed to be used, so I chopped them up and tossed them in.
We had never tried barley as a side to our meals before, but my husband really liked it.
Finally, we made the jambalaya. I’m from Louisiana, so I was excited to see some home-state representation on a meal kit menu. It was pretty tasty.
Additionally, the portion sizes were enormous. We had lots of leftovers from each meal, even after eating our fill.
How Easy Are Gobble Meal Kits to Prepare?
I was pleasantly surprised by how easy our Gobble meal kits were to prepare. The recipe cards were really detailed and easy to understand.
Better yet, the whole meal kit was streamlined, including packaging (with all ingredients for a single meal plus the recipe card in its own bag) and cooking (with pre-prepped ingredients).
For example, on gyro night, the potatoes were already sous vide cooked, so we essentially only had to warm them up. This reduced time on prepping and cooking the potatoes.
For the jambalaya and stir fry dishes, the grains had already been precooked and only needed to be reheated. The rice and barley took five minutes each rather than 30+ minutes.
Additionally, instead of sending separate seasonings, whole garlic, and whole onions to add flavor, each recipe contains a custom-made packet or two of confit.
This packet was essentially a cooked-down, concentrated source of flavor made from onions, garlic, and seasonings.
Are Gobble Meals Healthy?
Gobble meals are all made with healthy, simple, and whole ingredients. In that regard, they’re definitely much healthier than most restaurant food.
You won’t find a lot of processed additives or preservatives on their ingredient lists either.
They also offer a Lean & Clean menu that features lower-carb, grain-free meals that are all less than 600 calories per serving.
Gobble even has a vegetarian menu with a limited selection of plant-based meals each week, although these usually aren’t vegan because they contain dairy or eggs.
Overall, this is a great choice for people who want a meal kit that aligns with healthy living because of their use of fresh ingredients and healthy recipes.
Who Should Use Gobble?
Gobble offers convenient, tasty recipes. Here’s who it would be an excellent fit for.
People With Limited Time
One of the main draws of the Gobble service is that they cut down on prep work in several ways, saving you valuable time during the cooking process.
For instance, they offer some pre-prepped veggies and sauces. Additionally, rather than including whole garlic or onions, they include flavor-packed confits as a shortcut to adding lots of flavor.
This makes Gobble an ideal fit for families who want home-cooked meals but have limited time.
Picky Eaters
The Gobble menu offers several favorites each month that will appeal to picky eaters of all ages.
For example, here are some recent weekly meal options:
- Roasted Half Chicken for Two with Truffled Macaroni and Cheese
- Chicken Tortellini Alfredo with Spinach Salad & Garlic Bread for Four
- Black Pepper Chicken with Stir Fry Vegetables & Jasmine Rice
- Beef Stew with Potatoes & Peas
If you have a choosy eater in your home, Gobble could be a good fit.
Seafood Fans
Gobble also features several seafood options each week for people who enjoy seafood or like the variety of these additional proteins.
For example, a recent menu featured dishes with shrimp pasta, fish tacos, barramundi fillets, and halibut fillets.
Who Shouldn’t Use the Service?
On the other hand, Gobble may not be a good fit for the following people.
Vegetarians/Vegans
Gobble doesn’t offer many modified meals for special diets or dietary restrictions.
Although they do offer some vegetarian meals each week, they are not vegan since they often feature dairy or eggs.

People on a Budget
Gobble is one of the more expensive meal kit delivery services available.
In fact, it’s even more expensive than another premium meal kit company, Sunbasket (which caters to specific dietary needs and offers organic ingredients).
However, Gobble meals are made for convenience. For some people, it may be worth the cost.
Personally, it’s out of our price range, but I could see it being a great alternative for people who spend a lot of money dining out and want a healthier, home-cooked option.
