4th of July

Happy 4th of July friends! To all my readers outside of the States, happy Friday! 🙂 I can’t believe it’s the 4th of July already, but this year is just flying by. That said, how can you not be a fan of the 4th? Of course, it is our nations Independence Day, which is very important to remember, but it’s also a day that many of us devote to spending time with friends and family, barbeques, apple pie, fireworks and much more.

Today means different things to different people, but to me it reminds me to be thankful of all the freedoms we do have here in our country. That is something I know I can take for granted at times, but the point is that we have freedoms that many others would literally kill for which should cause us to step back and give thanks.

I will end today’s rather short post by asking that if you do choose to shoot off fireworks today, PLEASE be safe! I love fireworks as much as the next person and am likely part pyro. However, that all changed for me last year when I had an artillery shell blow up in my face thanks to my own stupidity and failure to take my time. Thankfully my eyesight was not impacted due to a simple contact lense that shielded my eye. So, if you do choose to shoot them off enjoy, but please be safe about it.  If you’re looking for some last minute ideas of things to do during the holiday weekend, check out this neat little infographic I found over at
