People have a lot of stuff, probably more than we even realize. However, there are some things you would never admit having a lot of to other people.
In a recent online discussion, the topic of what people have a lot of that they would never admit in public was addressed. Here are the top ten responses.

Takeout Sauce Packets
It started with the mustard packets. Someone said, “Mustard Packets from Chinese Take-out places. Mustard doesn’t really go bad, so you just save them and they built up. You wouldn’t admit it publicly because you forget that you them.”
Someone else replied, “Not just the mustard packets. Ketchup packets, relish packets, hot sauce packets of various kinds, grated cheese and pepper packets that you put on pizza and pasta, those chicken nugget sauce tiny dipping containers.”
Is there ever a time when you don’t have your phone? Most people won’t come right out and say they are addicted to it, but many are.
One commenter said, “People can’t get off their stupid cell phones to do simple things like drive or order food while people are waiting behind them, hold a conversation, etc.”
Another replied, “I happen to be reading this from my phone. On the toilet. In the bathroom. I miss the simple times, looking at the back of shampoo bottles.”
It’s normal for everyone to feel anxious from time to time. For some people, it’s much more than just a little anxiety. It can be life-altering, but people rarely talk about it much.
One woman said, “I was diagnosed in my mid thirties and have struggled most of my childhood without realizing that it was just anxiety. It is still important to remember that we suffer from varying degrees of anxiety. People with high-functioning anxiety fare really well in their lives, but at a huge cost to their mental health.”
People don’t often talk about finances with friends, but some people have a staggering amount of debt they would never publicly acknowledge.
One woman said, “So many people get into insane debt to look wealthy. Meanwhile the rest of us are broke to pay our debts off. What a time to be alive.” Another replied, ” Don’t worry. My wife and I have next to no debt and we’re still broke. It doesn’t get better.”
Having what most consider to be an STD is not something that you would admit publicly. Turns out nearly all of us have this one, though.
One person said, “If you’ve ever had a ‘cold sore,’ you have oral herpes. Most people rarely ever get an outbreak, and the reason that it can show up when you have a cold is because your immune system is busy focusing on something else. It’s estimated that over 80 percent of the global population carries the virus, and it’s been a documented thing since at least the days of the Roman Empire.”
Loneliness is something people rarely ever admit to, but lots of people struggle with it. One woman said, “I just cried while having dinner alone because I realized how lonely I suddenly felt. Fortunately it doesn’t happen often. Usually I enjoy being alone. But when the thoughts and realization comes in your mind it’s tough.”
Someone replied, “Most of the time I’m happy alone, but some times it would be nice if I could just pop out for a cup of tea with someone.”
Nobody talks about it, but everybody has it occasionally.
One commenter said, “Sometimes someone obviously needs to let it go but they are too nervous to excuse themselves to the bathroom to letter’ rip or something, so they just stand there looking like Violet Beauregard as you vainly try resisting busting out in to an office based oompah-loom pah song.”
Depression is something that many people struggle with but don’t usually discuss. It’s a shame since knowing that you aren’t the only one struggling can help.
One man said, “It’s so easy to make people think you’re happy and fun when you’re really drowning. Sometimes it’s the happiest people who you’d never expect.”
Someone else said, “I love that it is becoming more open and destigmatized but there are still too many people out there that aren’t open about it because they are afraid of the reaction they will get.”
It’s definitely not dinner table or office cooler conversation, but the adult toy industry is thriving. One commenter said, “Why has nobody said adult toys? Am I strange or something?”
Adult toys was the most popular two-word answer in this discussion. One person said, “They wouldn’t keep making them if there wasn’t a profitable market.”
This was the most common single-word answer in this discussion. Lots of people have hemorrhoids, but nobody talks about them. One person said, “My former boss used to say: Money is like hemorrhoids, those who gets it says they don’t have it.”
Someone replied, saying, “Everyone has them. They are natural and help with stool control. The illness which is called hemorrhoids is when they are swollen.”
