Welcome back to another Shout Out Saturday! It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day! It seems like it was just yesterday that it was Christmas and now we’re staring down spring. Now that we’re close to spring it has me excited about doing some spring cleaning around the house. Our main task for this spring is what I affectionately refer to as “De-crapify 2013.” We have simply allowed ourselves to accumulate too much crap around the house and it just seems to be everywhere. I could come up with a number of different excuses, but at the end of the day that’s all they’d be…excuses. So, hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll get started on the cleanup and will either be selling a lot of stuff on Craigslist or giving a lot of it away.
Speaking of spring cleaning, I’ve been doing some of that with the site this week. If you look at the toolbar, I’ve added a credit card page as well as an online brokerage page. It’s part of my attempt to help beef up some of the affiliate sales that I have been working on as well as to highlight several products. I have personally used all of the products/companies listed, save for one or two that I am very familiar with but have yet to use. To be completely transparent, if you do sign up for one of the products/companies listed I will receive a small commission that will go to support Frugal Rules as I continue to build up the site. They’re all products that I stand behind 100% and would not endorse them otherwise.
You’ll notice that I’ve made a bit of a change up with the Shout Out Saturday post, mainly in that the list is much shorter. I do appreciate all of the blogs that mention me throughout the week and am always honored when someone takes the time to mention me. That said, I have decided to cease mentioning the blogs of all the bloggers who mentioned me and instead just list the Carnivals that included me. I’ve decided to do this for a number of reasons, but it mainly came down to the time savings that can be spent on other backend things as well as not wanting to have a massive link dump every Saturday. Please know that I still appreciate the mentions and that my not including them in this post is no indication of my being unappreciative.
That said, I want to thank all of the bloggers that included me this week in their Carnivals last week. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

John, I think the new pages are a great addition and will be very helpful, especially to newbies like me. Thanks for making the change. Love the “Decrapify” term – it’s perfect! I just can’t do our spring cleaning yet – not when there’s several inches of snow still on the ground. It’ll have to wait, I guess.

Thanks Laurie, that’s my hope! I should copyright that term, shouldn’t I?!
They’re calling for more snow tomorrow night, so we’ll see when we can get started. It’s probably be a few more weeks I guess.
Happy St. Paddy’s Day this weekend. Don’t miss my Custard Coffee Cookie Trifle recipe on Sunday, I even prettied it up with green meringue lol. Thanks for sharing about your new pages and affiliates. Cheers John.

Ok, I think I am now officially hungry Mr. CBB! I’ll definitely have to check it out. You have a great St. Patrick’s Day as well sir.
“De-crapify 2013″!!!! Love it
I think we’ll all be there right along with you, doing some spring cleaning!

Thanks! Like I told Laurie, I should copyright the phrase.
I think it’ll be more than spring cleaning, more of renting a dumpster and throwing a bunch of junk in it.
Great roundup, John! Thanks for this, and have a great weekend.
Not a problem Tony, you have a great one as well.
Hope you are having a great weekend, John!!

To you as well Melinda, that’s what I aim to be.
I know what you mean, I don’t do that whole “blogs that mentioned me either.” I totally appreciate it but I’m just lacking time. I can’t wait till I’m at a point where I can start spring cleaning everything…the craziness is hopefully coming to an end soon!

That’s exactly it Tonya…time. I appreciate it as well, but there are so many other things that require my attention and linking back to everyone who mentioned me was just becoming too much of a time issue. I agree, I can’t wait to get started to get to some spring cleaning.
I’ve also considered narrowing down my “mentions” list to just the carnivals. From a Google perspective, it is probably better.

To be quite honest MMD, that’s also a big part of my reasoning as well.
