It’s hard to believe that the first month of the year is in the books already! Tomorrow is the Super Bowl and I read the other day that the price for a 30 second commercial during the Super Bowl is between $3.7 and $3.8 million, which works out to just over $123,000 per second. This is not to mention the production costs associated with making the commercials. We hear these numbers and think it’s nuts, many times justifiably so, but it is interesting as someone being in advertising seeing how well companies do at using their time. Maybe it’s because I’m a man, the commercials are a distant second to actually watching the game for me even though I really don’t care who wins.
On the blogging front, Frugal Rules continues to chug along and is setting record numbers. As it’s only the second day of the month I have not fully analyzed my numbers yet, but it was a very good month overall. I’ll be shuttering my monthly blog goals posts as I don’t think many readers are terribly concerned about them. I’ll more than likely share some of the high level numbers in a Frugal Friday or Shout Out Saturday post going forward.
This was another great week in the blogosphere for Frugal Rules. When I am putting together this list I am always humbled by the number of other bloggers and Carnivals that choose to mention me. A lot of the credit goes to other bloggers who provide insightful guest posts as well as Mrs. Frugal Rules who edits all of my drivel so it looks good. Thanks again to everyone who mentioned me last week and hope you have a great rest of the weekend!

I am thinking along the same lines John and so I think i will be creating another website dedicated to tracking my blog stat progress on my sites, rather than bothering my regulars with blog stats.
FYI – I really like seeing other peoples blog stats, so if you do publish them I will be sticky beaking in for a look.

Great minds must think alike Glen.
I think I’ll be sharing the higher view numbers, but will be including it as a part of my Friday round up or Saturday link back post. I just don’t want to bother my readers with devoting a whole post to it. I, too, like see how others are doing to see how I measure up.
I did have a VERY good month, but don’t think I’ll start a new website to do so.
This one keeps me busy enough as it is.
I am on the same page as Glen. I don’t know why, but I love reading about other bloggers stats and progress, whether it relates to their website traffic, or their net worth. I realize this is probably more of a “meta” view, as most regular readers — those who don’t have blogs of their own — couldn’t care less!

Yea, I always find it interesting to read others stats as well. I’ll still do some of that, just not devoting an entire post to it.
Thanks for the inclusion John. I hope you enjoy the weekend and the big game. Keep up the great work on the site. As you keep chugging along, then I will just try to keep up.

No problems Grayson. Hope you have a great weekend as well. I just hope to keep the momentum I have managed to create…
I know you’re a Cowboys fan….did you read that Aikman said the Cowboys should draft a QB in the draft this year? Maybe he’s just thinking of trying to find Romo’s eventual replacement but of course many people are taking it as a vote of non-support.

I did not read that, though it does not surprise me. Can we draft a new owner as well?!
The Cowboys are a mess, and it starts at the top (and that’s not even to mention my feelings on Romo). Ok, that’s enough, I’ll stop myself before I get too upset.
Hey John,
Have a great weekend mate…… keep up the great work.. and the stats aren’t a bad thing but I like the idea you have.
Canadian Budget Binder recently posted..Mr.CBB’s Personal Finance Reading List #5- Hello Blackberry Z10 and Show Me The Money Ticketmaster!
Thanks, you as well Mr. CBB! I think showing the stats can be good, I just don’t want to devote an entire post to it anymore as it takes away one that I can talk about something more beneficial.
Good job with the blog success!!

Thanks Tonya!
Congrats on your continued success with your blog! And I am not too interested in the Superbowl commercials either. I watch for the game

Mackenzie recently posted..Link Love: Superbowl Weekend Edition!
Thanks Mackenzie! The commercials can be fun to watch, but no where near as much as the game.
That’s a crazy amount of money to spend in 30 seconds. If they’d consider giving me the money I’d happily mention the company to everyone I know every day for the rest of my life. Just a thought! Enjoy the game John.

That’s not a half bad idea, maybe I’ll try it as well.
You enjoy the game as well Adam!
Thanks for the shout out! Despite what people may say, I still enjoy the blog stat updates.

Not a problem MMD! I do as well, I’ll just not be devoting an entire post to it.
Thanks for the mention! Like many others I enjoy reading your updated stats. You’ve had huge success in the short amount of time you’ve been blogging so it’s fun to compare.
