Welcome back to another Shout Out Saturday, where I link back to other blogs who were kind enough to mention me last week or include me in their Carnival. This weekend is possibly the saddest weekend of the year for me. I know that I may be just a BIT overdramatic, but this weekend means that next weekend is the Super Bowl. While I look forward to the Super Bowl for many reasons it also means the end of football season. That means we get months of basketball and worse yet, baseball on TV. Even if I am not terribly excited about either of the teams playing, the Super Bowl is still a great game to watch and has me excited just writing about it. Oh well, at least I can look on the bright side and now see the hours of time I can now spend on other, more beneficial projects over the next six months or so.
Ok, enough of my belly aching. Frugal Rules was mentioned quite a bit in the blogosphere last week and for that I am thankful and humbled. I hope that everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

What’s wrong with baseball???
. Seriously, though, thanks for including us in the shout out, and enjoy your weekend! I’m writing a post tomorrow about how to have a frugal football party, so you’ll have to check it out if you get time. What’s a superbowl party without great food?

Oh, I used to love baseball when I was growing up, but the liking is gone now with the strikes they had in the 90′s and the steroid scandal. I always enjoyed seeing a game live, but not really on TV. I did a similar post for the Super Bowl and is posting on Monday.
Great minds think alike, I guess
. I agree about the baseball mess. But I still have a bit of nostalgia over our 87 and 91 World Series wins.

Twins fan I see? I took my wife to a Twins game a few years ago (my last game as well) when they were playing the Padres. She was born and raised in San Diego, so it was nice to see her home team.
Fun stuff! That wasn’t in the new stadium here in MN was it? We haven’t seen a live game in a few years either, but used to go regularly, as well as annually to Chicago to see the Cubs. Love those outdoor stadiums!

Baseball is such an amazing sport. People need to get behind a guy throwing a ball and the other guys swinging at it. There’s so much more to it. Oh, and thanks for the luv! Much appreciated.
Eddie recently posted..Finance Fox Weekend Recap – RIM Revisting Winning Ways!
It is Eddie and I know that it requires great skill, but (in my opinion at least) it is terribly boring to watch on TV. I have no problem going to go see a game live, but on TV it’s a different story.
I know a lot of people say that, but I enjoy it on TV equally. You get the colour commentary which is always fun, the updates and a lot in between.

Holy cow you get a lot of mentions. Good work!

Thanks Tonya! I was pretty humbled when compiling the list.
John, to get all these mentions, you must be a busy guy. Keep up the great work. I feel your pain about football. I enjoy it, but I can deal with college basketball, but not baseball.

Yes, I am…at least my lovely wife will attest to that.
I can stomach college basketball, especially now that conference play is starting to heat up.
I’m not big on football or baseball but I do like rugby, soccer and tennis so no issues here. Have a great weekend mate!

Rugby…now that’s a sport I could get into! I remember when they would show Australian rules rugby on TV, I thought it was so cool. You have a good one as well sir!
You are quite a popular guy
I am so very excited for the Superbowl!!!! Can’t wait! Go Niners!!!

Mackenzie recently posted..Link Love: Toys Are Taking Over Edition!
Yes, it does seem so from last week.
I am looking forward to the Super Bowl as well, however I think I may be pulling for a different team.
I’m a 49ers fan so I AM excited about the Superbowl! I hope we keep our undefeated record and go 6-0 in Superbowls!

While that would be pretty neat, the Cowboys fan in me is secretly hoping the Ravens will win.
WHAAT?! Baseball is awesome!
Michelle recently posted..Oh Saturday
I know, but what can I say…it’s about as fun as watching golf on TV.
Thanks for the mention!! I love the Super Bowl myself – so I can hang out with friends and eat wings and pizza! But, I’m not as sad as you about the end of football. I do like football, but I like baseball just as much (and maybe even more). Plus baseball = warm weather!
Jon @ MoneySmartGuides recently posted..The Round Table – January 25, 2013
No problem Jon! I used to be the same way, but football has far become my favorite over the last few years. I love the cold weather myself, so that may be part of the reason why.
I fully understand about baseball. But then, you could be forced to watch golf, or, say, bowling.
Basketball is the choice around our house.
Thad recently posted..Flooring Installation: Moving from Frustration
Lol! I think I would watch bowling first.
With no football left, I usually go with college basketball myself.
Hey John, thanks for the shout out again. Think I might have to take a leaf out of your book and start a shout out saturday myself. Guessing you’ve trademarked the name though so I’ll have to think of something else! Hope you’re having a nice weekend.
Money Bulldog recently posted..Stressed About Money? Just Forget It For A Weekend!
Not a problem Adam! Go for it! It was becoming too much of a link dump to do it all on Friday and the benefits were being diminished. There are plenty of things you could do to play on the Saturday thing.
I admire all the hard work you must put in to get all these mentions. Keep a the great work. Your so dedicated.

Thanks so much for the shout-out! And I am a Denver Bronco fan. Still don’t want to talk about it…
Tony@YouOnlyDoThisOnce recently posted..The Importance of Making Time for Friends
Not a problem Tony. I was a Broncos fan as a kid, I loved watching Elway, I’ll be interested to see how long Manning sticks around.
We are big football fans too. We are having a party next weekend for the superbowl. We will miss watching the games but once summer hits we will be busy enjoying the weather. Thanks for the shout out this week. Much appreciated.
Miss T @ Prairie Eco-Thrifter recently posted..Friday Links – Week Three of Chaos
I love Super Bowl parties! I actually have a post on them going up tomorrow.
I usually love college basketball. My team is the reigning national champions after all, but they are struggling this year. The whole one and done thing just sucks. I think they should make them stay at least two years. No 19 year old needs 20 million dollars or maybe I’m just wishing for Anthony Davis back.
Kim@Eyesonthedollar recently posted..Eyes on the Dollar 20/20 Roundup #23-Raised By Wolves
I agree that the one and done thing needs to go, though I do not see it changing one bit. Making them stay two years would be a great start, but when all that money is involved, I know it can be hard to say no when you’re really still dealing with kids.
Baseball on TV is pretty dreadful. Growing up I used to love to watch it; being a kid in St. Louis means that loving the Cardinals is ingrained in you at an early age. Despite being a big baseball fan for most of my childhood, it’s the last thing I’d watch on TV now.
Saying all of that, I’m really excited about the Royals upcoming season and I’ll definitely be going to a few games of theirs.
Jason recently posted..Making Extra Money: Start a Blog or Write for Others?
Yes it is Jason. I loved baseball as a kid and played it for many years, but I’d much rather go see a game live as opposed to on TV. I’ve heard good things about the Royals, we get to see a lot of the kids here in Omaha as it’s the AAA ball club.
John, you were everywhere this week in the blogging world! Nice work getting all those mentions.
My Money Design recently posted..Is the Conventional System to Create Wealth Rigged?
Thanks MMD! I was pretty humbled compiling the list.
Thanks for the mention!!! I am a huge college basketball fan but haven’t found anytime to devote to this season. I have been a tarheel fan for years and can’t even tell you their starting 5. Oh the joys of fatherhood and blogging =)

No problem Marvin. I grew up a UNC fan as I lived in ACC country. But sadly, like you, don’t have the time to devote to following them now.
