Welcome to the first Frugal Friday of 2013! We got back into the swing of things on Wednesday this week after taking a thoroughly relaxing and restorative ten-day vacation from blogging and our business. While it was fun having the extra time with the family to do things together and being de-tethered from the computer, I absolutely hate coming back mid-week. It feels as if my timing is off for the rest of the week and I always seem to forget what day it is. That said, I guess it’s nice to come back to only a few days of work before the onslaught begins the following Monday. We did manage to take down all our Christmas decorations this week which is always is a little sad as so much time is spent in the buildup and it seems to go by in a flash.
Even though it’s been a quieter week in the blogosphere, there have been some great blog posts to be read and enjoyed. If you’re not too busy taking in an NFL playoff game this weekend, then I encourage you to read some of the selected blog posts. Have a great weekend everyone!

We will be taking down ours this weekend, or soon after. As soon as we have time! It does take a long time to put them up, so I always hate taking them down.

I hate taking them down to, but we find that we have to do it soon after the New Year or we have problems trying to find the time to do so.
Hi, John. Thank you for including my article, Money Soldiers Blog Carnival No. 4 and my guest post article in Modest Money entitled, Little Acorns Can Grow Into Giant Oaks. Awesome.
Talk soon,
Arnel

I was planning on taking down our Christmas decorations this weekend. I sometimes wonder why we bother putting them up, but I know next year it will be far more exciting with our little one involved in the festivities.
Have a great weekend John

Yes it will Glen. They probably won’t be able to appreciate it much, but having a little one around for the Holidays always makes it much more special. You have a great weekend as well Glen.
All of our Christmas decorations are still up, I really don’t want to take them down! Also, interesting search words as usual haha
Michelle recently posted..How to Stick with an Exercise Program
We did not either Michelle. But, my wife made an executive decision.
Thanks for the mention John, it is much appreciated. We took down the decorations yesterday and now the house looks bare. I like Christmas decorations, so this time of the year is a little somber.
Grayson @ Debt Roundup recently posted..Weekly Personal Finance Blog RoundUp – 1/4/2013
Not a problem Grayson! I would agree, it makes the house feel much less warmer, but I guess it’s better than keeping them up until Valentine’s Day.
I can’t believe it’s 2013 already. Crazy~!
Have a great weekend =)

Thanks for the mention! I’m so glad the holidays are over. I feel like things can get into a flow now. Glad you enjoyed your time off though!

Thanks for the mention!
My husband just took down our Christmas tree yesterday! LOL
The house is back to normal now.
Have a great weekend John!

Not a problem Mackenzie. Yep, we’re back to normal now as well, which makes for less stuff for the kids to get into.
You have a great weekend as well.
Thank you for the mention John, have a great weekend!

John, thanks for the mention! I loved the movie Lincoln and writing about it. Hope you enjoy it too. My Chicago Bears are done this season so I’ll have time to browse your selection here. Have a good weekend!

Not a problem John. My birthday is in a few weeks, so hopefully it’ll still be out then. If not we’ll probably see the new Matt Damon movie. Yea, my team…the Cowboys, are done as well. I’ve been a fan of them ever since I was a little kid. But, with the way Jerry Jones is “running” the team I often wonder why I even bother most days. You have a great weekend as well!
Welcome back. Glad you got some rest. I had a few days off too and I too am thrown off as to which day it is. I must say only have to work three days this week is nice as I am still tired from the holidays.
Thanks so much for the inclusion this week. I really appreciate it.

I feel the same way Miss T. The past few days have felt like a never ending Monday, so I am definitely glad the weekend is near!
Thanks for the mention mate. I’m glad things are somewhat back to normal around here as life was getting pretty busy. I’ll be happy when this month has come and gone! Have a great week John. Mr.CBB

Not a problem Mr. CBB! I can relate to being busy, that week before Christmas was a beast of a week. Thankfully things are back to a bit of normalcy. You have a great weekend as well sir!
What’s wrong with a coffee cup for Christmas? I actually asked for one this year and didn’t get it.

Edward Antrobus recently posted..The 2013 $3k Challenge
Truth be told, I actually got one for my wife for Christmas. She loves mugs and it had a really nice view of San Diego on it…where she’s from. I got it along with some coffee she was wanting.
Great list of links! I will visit each of them before the weekend is over. I am sure I will learn a lot from these posts. Thanks for the suggested reading.

Thanks so much for including me. Taking down the decorations is such a let down. You spend so much time getting everything decorated and looking good and then everything is over so quick. BF has always taken his tree down on Jan 6th, so I guess tomorrow’s the “big” day.
KK @ Student Debt Survivor recently posted..Survivor’s Standouts-1/5/13
Not a problem KK. I feel the same way. You look forward to it and have all the build up and then it’s over and you have to take it down.

I’m taking our Christmas decorations out to storage as we speak. You’re right, it’s funny; we spend a ton of time putting stuff up and then BAM it’s all coming down.
I’ve learned because of that to enjoy putting the stuff up. I put on music and it’s as much about putting it up than enjoying it when it’s up.
AverageJoe recently posted..Saturday! Let’s Play Money
You’re exactly right Joe! The little ones have little, if any, concept of time yet and they don’t understand why we’d want/need to take it down. They don’t realize yet that we’d get funny looks if we kept all the decorations up til St. Patrick’s Day.
I’m kind of happy and sad to be back to reality. I had a great break. Thanks for the mention.

I can relate Kim. Having that break is awesome, but reality is always calling. Glad you had a great break!

We typically take down our decorations on New Year’s Day, but couldn’t wait this year and did it the Sunday before.
Hope you had a great weekend!
