Shopping is a just hobby for some people, but other people consider it a challenge.
In fact, there’s a whole TV show revolving around the fact that people like to get as much stuff as possible for as cheap as possible. (Ever heard of Extreme Cheapskates?)
If you are among those people who always likes to try and save money when they make a purchase, there are some shopping secrets retailers don’t want you to know.
Retailers like to trick you into spending more, but when you use some of these hacks you can beat them at their game. Keep some of the following tips in mind the next time you go shopping.
1.Sign up for Cash back websites
Cash back websites are usually affiliated with top retailers. They earn money from referring traffic to major retailer websites. Your can sign up on these websites and enjoy cash back whenever you shop on a partner retailer’s website. You won’t get rich quick, but it’s a nice way to get a little cash back for something you’d be buying anyway.
2.Search for Discount Codes
Almost every big retailer provides discounts and deals for their online and in-store customers. Before you buy anything from anyone, you can search for discount coupons or vouchers. It only takes a few seconds to do an Internet search or use a coupon site, and you can save big on major purchases. You can even follow some of your favorite retailers on social media to get even more discount codes.
3. Try A Price Drop Service
Have you ever wished you could name your price? Now you can buy things at a price you set. When you use a price drop service, you can ask the price drop alert service provider to notify you whenever the price of your desired item drops below your set number. As soon as its price goes down, you receive a notification that your chosen item has gone down in price so you can buy it and stay on budget.
4. You can haggle
One way many people forget about saving is by haggling. You can try to use live chat options online to haggle for a better price, or ask for a better price when you shop in person. Don’t forget to make your request in a courteous manner. You can enjoy a good discount, if you haggle in a smart way.
5. Crack Clearance Codes
If the price of an item ends in 9, 7, or 1, then it is possible that it is part of a store’s clearance stock. As soon as you realize that item is in clearance, you can ask for a further discount. You may be able to enjoy 10 to 20 percent off on the price if you ask nicely.
6. Use Shop bots
Shopping bots help you compare prices of the same item in different stores. This comparison helps you identify the cheapest price so you don’t have to drive around to different stores to find items at their cheapest price.
7. Try Amazon/ebay Discount Finder Tools
In case you are looking for discounts on special items, you can use discount finder tools for Amazon (like CamelCamelCamel or The Tracktor) or eBay. These tools will help you identify a discounted item, and in some cases you can have alerts texted or emailed to you so you can act quickly when a discounted item is found.
8. Deals Website
Different stores and retailers offer various deals from time to time, but it can be difficult to stay on top of them all. There are deals websites that collect all of that information so you can get it all in one place. In many cases you can sign up to be notified about upcoming deals and discount offers from your favorite stores and retailers.
